In a previous blog post I reflected on some of the financial difficulties faced by young people from care. I also talked about the importance of financially empowering youth from care, given that we’re required to be completely financially independent after 18 years of age.

It’s that time of the year again. Now that the cold weather is behind us, there’s a lot to look forward to! The sun is shining, school is ending and spirits are high. Want to make the most of your summer? Proceed with caution. The last thing you want to do is get carried away with ambitious summer activities and wind up in a tight financial spot.

The Healthy Aboriginal Network (HAN) created The Game Plan, our financial literacy comic book. It’s about Jake, an 18 year old that is forced to learn the hard way that we are what we do in life, not what we own. The production of the comic was funded by the TD Financial Literacy Grant Fund.
