Ontario government announces funding for FEPS and Ontario FECs

On March 7, 2017, Dr. Helena Jaczek, Minister of Community and Social Services, and Daiene Vernile, MPP for Kitchener Centre visited our partners at The Working Centre in Kitchener, Ontario to announce funding for two financial empowerment programs.  

 

The Financial Empowerment and Problem Solving (FEPS) program, created by West Neighbourhood House, provides free, confidential, one-on-one support to Toronto residents with low incomes to help them build their financial health. Prosper Canada is excited to continue working with FEPS partner organizations West Neighbourhood House, Jane-Finch Centre, Agincourt Community Services Association, and The Working Centre. The FEPS sites have served more than 10,000 Ontarians, and even more will be served through the extension of this program.

 

The Ontario Financial Empowerment Champions Project is a Prosper Canada initiative which aims to improve the financial well-being of over 50,000 Ontarians living on low incomes. We are delighted to work with the following five non-profit organizations which were selected for their leadership in financial empowerment: EBO Financial Education Centre, Family Service Thames Valley, Sudbury Community Service Centre, Thunder Bay Counselling, and WoodGreen Community Services.

 

Prosper Canada commends the Ontario government for leading the way in implementing financial empowerment supports for people with low incomes through this funding.
