New CRA phone service improves tax filing for low-income Canadians
20 February 2018
Last month The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) launched a new automated telephone filing service called
File my Return
to make it easier for Canadians to file their income tax and benefit returns. File my Return allows eligible Canadians to file their income tax and benefit returns by answering a series of short questions and providing some personal information. This service provides access to all the deductions, benefits and credits that the individual is entitled to without the need for any calculations or paper forms to fill out.
According to CRA, over 950,000 eligible individuals with low income or fixed income that is unchanged year-to-year will be invited to use File my Return. This service will be especially useful for people with reduced mobility, people who live far from service locations and people without Internet access.
Eligible Canadians will receive personalized invitation letters starting in the middle of February 2018. Learn more about File my Return from
The Government of Canada
