Get My ACES Campaign (Ends July 31, 2015)

16 June 2015
On July 31, 2015, the Province of Alberta will be cancelling its education savings incentive, the Alberta Centennial Education Savings (ACES) Grant. The grant currently provides all Alberta children under the age of 6 with a $500 kick-start to their  Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) with no family contribution required.

Less than half of Alberta kids have an RESP account and, to date, less than 20% of ACES grants have benefited lower-income children. The Province's website says ACES doesn't work for lower-income Albertans "as accessing the grants requires a higher level of financial literacy." A new campaign aims to ensure that lower-income families don’t miss out.

Our partners, Calgary-based financial literacy leader Momentum and Canada Learning Bond advocate SmartSAVER, have teamed up to launch www.GetMyACES.ca to help families access this grant while it is still available.

When Alberta residents use SmartSAVER’s online application to start a no-cost RESP, SmartSAVER will submit both their ACES Grant and Canada Learning Bond applications to the applicant’s choice of BMO, RBC Royal Bank, Scotiabank or TD Canada Trust.
