Financial coaching training for City of Toronto staff to begin this Fall
13 September 2017
Prosper Canada is partnering with the Family Support Unit at
Toronto Employment & Social Services
(TESS) to provide financial coaching training for Family Support Workers. The goal of this project is to support Ontario Works clients to achieve greater financial stability through individual coaching sessions with TESS staff. Prosper Canada will deliver training and provide guidance and support to TESS staff around program design and evaluation. The objective of the training is to provide staff with the knowledge and skills they need to effectively coach and problem solve around financial issues with Ontario Works clients. Funded by the City of Toronto, this project launched in August and is expected to last six months with training beginning this Fall.
Prosper Canada continues to support the City of Toronto to explore, assess and select opportunities to integrate financial empowerment services within municipal programs more broadly. Consultations with Ontario Works clients and TESS staff were conducted throughout the spring and Prosper Canada is currently in the process of analyzing the data collected. We expect to make recommendations to TESS around financial empowerment integration opportunities this Fall.
We would like to recognize the City of Toronto for their leadership and willingness to take risks in this emerging field in Canada. Prosper Canada continues to be energized by the potential of cities to support people living on low incomes achieve greater financial security through the integration of financial empowerment services.
