Celebrating Financial Literacy Month with Money Matters
13 September 2017
ABC Life Literacy Canada is gearing up for Financial Literacy Month with
Money Matters
sessions in communities across Canada. The
Money Matters
program helps learners develop the confidence, knowledge and skills necessary to talk about their finances and make financial decisions for themselves and their families.
A survey by the Financial Planning Standards Council found that money is a concern for 4 in 10 Canadians, and a constant worry for a third of low-income Canadians. According to a report prepared for the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, higher levels of financial confidence lead to better outcomes associated with day-to-day money and debt management.
Money Matters
answers the need for financial literacy education with free, accessible programming for all learners, as well as versions adapted specifically to the needs of newcomers and new Canadians and Indigenous Peoples. The workbooks can be accessed online at
ABCMoneyMatters.ca
.
Register here
to join ABC Life Literacy Canada on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 for a webinar on ways to celebrate Financial Literacy Month (FLM) this November with your learners.
