Achievements

We expand life-changing financial empowerment services, innovate for greater inclusion and impact, and eliminate barriers to financial well-being, so more people in Canada can prosper.

  • 2000, Learn$save

Learn$ave was Prosper Canada’s nine-year demonstration project testing whether matched savings plus financial education could help people with low incomes build assets for education and small business. It worked: participants were more likely to pursue post-secondary education and training, and the results helped inform national programs like the Canada Learning Bond that support families to save for their children’s future.

  • 2008, Centre for Financial Literacy

Prosper Canada co-founded and led the national Centre for Financial Literacy, bringing together community organizations, governments, and educators to strengthen financial education across the country. Through training, resources, and evaluation support, Prosper Canada helped build the capacity of frontline staff to deliver effective, practical financial education to people with low incomes—creating a shared standard of quality and a national network committed to improving financial wellbeing.

  • 2015, Financial Empowerment Champions

Prosper Canada’s Financial Empowerment Champions initiative equipped frontline community agencies across the country with the training, tools, and support needed to deliver proven financial help to people living on low incomes. Through this multi-year effort, participating organizations helped tens of thousands of Canadians access benefits, reduce debt, build savings, and improve their financial stability—demonstrating how strengthening local capacity can create lasting, community-wide impact.

  • 2021, Benefits Wayfinder

Prosper Canada launched the Benefits Wayfinder, a free online tool that makes it easier for people—especially those with low and modest incomes—to find and understand federal, provincial, and territorial benefits they may be missing. By simplifying complex information, the Benefits Wayfinder helps more people access the income supports they’re entitled to, faster and with less frustration.
