High profile speakers at ABLE Financial Empowerment

Jane Rooney, Canada’s Financial Literacy Leader, Eldar Shafir, Princeton University’s renowned behavioural scientist, and Ray Boshara, leader of the US Federal Reserve’s research on household financial stability, are just a few of the high profile speakers that will be featured at this year’s ABLE Financial Empowerment Conference on November 2-3 in Toronto.

Join with other public, private and non-profit financial empowerment leaders from across Canada for an action packed two days of interactive and engaging workshops and plenaries, featuring leading experts from Canada and the U.S. This year’s theme is Aligning for Impact -- uniting stakeholders from all sectors in support of a common vision for financial empowerment in Canada and building an agenda we can all help to deliver to improve the financial well-being of Canadians living with low-incomes. First Nations Financial Wellness Project

The First Nations Financial Wellness Project is a three-year joint initiative of AFOA Canada, Prosper Canada, and our First Nation community partners to develop and pilot programs that support the financial well-being of First Nation community members in Ontario. Together we will develop and pilot sustainable financial literacy and coaching programs in four First Nation communities in Northern and Southern Ontario, as well as other financial supports identified by the participating communities.

Online Financial Literacy Facilitator Training course now available!

Prosper Canada is pleased to launch an online version of our two-day, in-person financial literacy facilitator training course. Developed in partnership with Seneca College and hosted on the OCASI LearnAtWork platform, this online course will enable facilitators to deliver basic money management workshops to the communities they serve, and help us reach more communities and train more facilitators than ever.

National Strategy for Financial Literacy – Count me in, Canada launched!

Last week, Jane Rooney, Canada’s National Financial Literacy Leader launched the National Strategy for Financial Literacy – Count me in, Canada. The strategy was released in Toronto at an event attended by 78 financial literacy leaders who celebrated Canada’s first national strategy for financial literacy.

Get My ACES Campaign (Ends July 31, 2015)

On July 31, 2015, the Province of Alberta will be cancelling its education savings incentive, the Alberta Centennial Education Savings (ACES) Grant. The grant currently provides all Alberta children under the age of 6 with a $500 kick-start to their Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) with no family contribution required.
