Prosperity Gateways - cities for financial empowerment
City of Toronto
City of Toronto’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Office (PRSO)
,
Toronto Public Library (TPL)
and Prosper Canada
September 2019 - August 2021
Prosper Canada has selected TPL as a municipal project partner to:
identify opportunities to integrate financial empowerment (FE) interventions into existing programs and services delivered across TPL branches,
co-design a program prototype, and
develop an implementation plan.
In
Prosperity Gateways: CFE Toronto
, Prosper Canada will work with TPL over a 27-month period, employing a structured, human-centred consulting process to help TPL to identify, design and integrate proven financial empowerment services into existing programs and services.
The aim of the project is to identify scalable and sustainable opportunities to enhance access to FE interventions for Toronto residents living on low incomes, to co-design a solution that measurably improves their financial well-being and supports the City of Toronto’s Poverty Reduction Strategy. Ultimately, FE programming supports the strategic priority of establishing TPL as Toronto’s centre for lifelong and self-directed learning by providing broad access to experiential and collaborative educational opportunities in response to the different ways people gain knowledge, and the unique needs of local communities.
The City of Toronto is receiving in-kind technical assistance for this project from Prosper Canada. This in-kind contribution is made possible through the generous support of the Maytree Foundation and JP Morgan Chase Foundation as part of the Cities for Financial Empowerment Project.
