Period: Fall 2012 – December 2014

Project leads: Prosper Canada, The Canadian Council on Social Development

Collaborators: Community Foundations of Canada, Environics Analytics, Open Policy, St. Christopher House, TD Economics

Project Description:
The Canadian Council on Social Development and Prosper Canada are leading the development of a new national Neighbourhood Financial Health Index. The project’s goal is to create a tool to measure and report annually on household financial health across Canada at the neighbourhood level.
The proposed Index will comprise a series of indicators on income, debt, savings and assets rolled-up into a single metric that can be presented in visually compelling and readily accessible ways.

Community organizations, governments will have the ability to capture, visualize, and analyze disparities in financial health and vulnerability across communities, regions and Canada as a whole.
